How to Choose

Pick resolution by task, not by spec sheet

4K is worth it for text-heavy work, photo editing, and detailed spreadsheets. 1440p is enough for most office tasks and costs less. 1080p is fine for a secondary or portable screen.

Consider panel type

IPS panels give the best color accuracy and viewing angles, which matters if you share your screen or do color-sensitive work. VA panels offer better contrast for media. TN panels are fast but cheap-looking and not recommended for office use.

Size and desk space

A 27-inch monitor fits most desks and gives enough room for two windows side by side. A 32-inch monitor replaces a dual-monitor setup but needs deeper desk space. Portable monitors are supplements, not replacements.
